Jude and Tiffany are the owners and operators of The Bistro in Taupo
Jude has spent time in various demanding kitchens both here in New Zealand and abroad, including Taupo’s Huka Lodge, and was Head Chef at the award winning Bach Restaurant. In the USA he was at the Multnomah Athletic Club, an exclusive members only club in Portland Oregon, then on to Peter Gordon’s Sugar Club in London.
It was a cooking scholarship over 11 years ago that was to spring board Jude’s overseas work experience, which took him to the USA where he met Tiffany, then off to the UK. Now living back in New Zealand the couple have six children together.
In recent years Jude was at the helm of The Plateau Restaurant in Taupo where he received multiple accolades including winning the Best Beef dish at the HANZ awards for excellence in 2009. In 2010 he was a finalist in the Kapiti Chef Collection creating an original Kiwi cheese dish for an exclusive dinner attended by illustrious New Zealanders. Jude won the Monteiths Beer and Wild Food Challenge TV series in 2011 and he achieved the New Zealand Beef and Lamb Hall Mark award in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
As well as cooking simple tasty food Jude is very passionate about coaching his son’s rugby teams and playing the drums for his Church band. You will even see him jump up every now and again on a Thursday night to play his hand drum with the live performer. Above all family is what drives Jude and Tiffany and that Is what keeps them grounded.
